We reinsure all of our risk with two of the largest and most respected reinsurers in the world, Swiss Re and Reinsurance Group of America and we utilise their financial strength and stability to give our policyholders complete peace of mind at all times. Both reinsurers are rated AA- by Standard & Poor’s and as at 31 December 2017, they had combined global life reinsurance in force of more than US$7 trillion.
Good governance and regulatory compliance is of paramount importance to us and a key part of our day to day operations. We adopt a number of globally recognised best practices and observe the standard codes of conduct of the global life insurance industry. Our policy management systems have been designed to provide a structured and consistent approach to risk management and our compliance culture ensures that we comply with all necessary internal and external obligations.
Our internal audit functions are managed in-house by a former Deloitte partner and our annual audit is provided independently by Moore Stephens. Our actuarial functions are outsourced to True South, a leading actuarial firm based in South Africa, who monitor our capital adequacy and solvency requirements as well as assist us with risk pricing.
Swiss Re is a leading and highly diversified global reinsurer and was founded in 1863. They operate in 25 countries and have more than 14,000 employees. As at 31 December 2017, Swiss Re had more than US$3.9 trillion of life reinsurance in force. The financial strength of the Swiss Re Group is currently rated AA- by Standard & Poor’s and A+ by A.M. Best. Swiss Re are listed on the Zurich Stock Exchange (SREN). Atlas Life signed their reinsurance treaty with Swiss Re in 2013.
